Settled is built so that your data never leaves your phone.
What Settled stores
Receipts you scan (the photo and the items read from it), the people you split with, their names and any payment handles you type in (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle), groups, and settlement records. All of it is stored locally on your device in the app's own storage. There is no Settled account and no Settled server.
Receipt scanning
Text on receipts is recognised on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Receipt images are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
Payments
When you tap Request or Pay, Settled opens the payment app or website you chose (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal) with the amount and a note filled in. Those services have their own privacy policies; Settled does not see or process any payment, and takes no fee.
Permissions
Camera: to scan receipts. Photos: only if you choose an existing receipt photo. Contacts: only if you choose to pull a name from your contacts; the contact is not stored beyond the name and phone/email you add to a person.
Purchases
Settled Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the transaction; we receive no personal or payment details. Subscription status is verified on your device using StoreKit.
Analytics and tracking
Settled contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking.
Deleting your data
Delete a receipt or person inside the app, or delete the app to remove everything.
